Nodle, a citizen-powered decentralized wireless network has granted the Berty Foundation $1 million in Nodle Cash to help in the development of its messaging Bluetooth peer-to-peer platform.

As per the announcement, the new funding will reportedly help Berty Foundation, a privacy communication protocol in the advancement of its protocol. Berty’s communication protocol, which is still under development seeks to enhance users’ privacy while chatting and sending messages across the Berty Network. With the new funding in place, Berty hopes to fast-track its dreams of creating secure communication tools for users while allowing them to break censorship measures that have largely hindered free communication among users.

While commenting on the grant, Micha Benoliel, CEO and Co-Founder of Nodle had this to say:

“We are thrilled to help and support the Berty Foundation to advance its privacy-first communication protocol. Privacy is at the heart of the Web 3.0 revolution and one of the core values of Nodle.”

Berty is a messaging platform built on the Berty Protocol which is based on IPFS, a peer-to-peer hypermedia protocol to make the web faster, safer, and more open. Berty is a messenger in which all conversations are encrypted with end-to-end encryption, in a fully distributed network. When fully launched, the platform will not require any of personal data or network connection from its users.

Notably, only the needed metadata will be collected allowing users to remain anonymous and enjoy their privacy. The messaging platform is reportedly ideal for privacy-focused groups, social network users who are looking to protect their personal data from third parties, and other messaging apps.

A statement from the Berty Foundation reads in part:

“Thanks to Nodle for their trust, this donation represents a real breakthrough for Berty. It will allow us to move forward more quickly on our new decentralized secure messaging protocol and the ability to communicate even without an Internet connection. More importantly, it will help secure the future of our organization.”

Nodle is the world’s largest ecosystem of connected devices, providing infrastructure, software, and access to data for the Internet of Things. The platform allows any user with a smartphone to join and earn its native token Nodle Cash using the Nodle Cash app. Nodle leverages the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) standard making it easy for any device or sensor to leverage its network. Developers and mobile app publishers also have the opportunity to monetize their applications by installing the Nodle network library.

In the coming days, both projects hope to harness their combined resources to create a better ecosystem where users can enjoy security and privacy.
