Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has declared that his commitment to Bitcoin is stronger than any pending projects he has to cater to at Twitter and Square; two companies he has headed since its founding.
Dorsey, who has been very bullish on Bitcoin, has been giving the Bitcoin Twitter community a reason to remain optimistic, especially at a time where the market is dealing with a lot of FUD as the bear market continues its run.
The Billionaire, who was among the guests present at the Bitcoin 2021 conference in Miami, had made significantly bullish comments concerning the flagship cryptocurrency, shortly after revealing that Square was considering making a Bitcoin hardware wallet.
During one of the sessions at the conference titled “baking the unbaked”, Jack Dorsey opened up to Alex Gladstein, the Chief Strategy Officer at the Human Rights Foundation on what his plans were for Bitcoin, and the role that Bitcoin plays in rebranding the current traditional finance market that we know.
Since the creation of Twitter, the app has played a major role in amplifying direct communication from world leaders to the common man, as it creates an equal platform for every user’s voice to be heard. Raking in $47.09 billion in market value, many would consider Twitter a significant project. But not Jack Dorsey, the platform’s founder, who believes that Bitcoin is a much more important project.
“Bitcoin absolutely changes everything. I don’t think there’s anything more important in my lifetime to work on. Whatever my companies can do to make it accessible to everyone is how I’m going to spend the rest of my life.” said the billionaire.
Jack further asserts that the new financial system that introduces Bitcoin as a decentralized platform, and that allows for the ever-growing community of users to influence the market, is a thriving platform that needs to be protected and maintained. He discards the need for the current financial institution that has served the previous generation and proposes Bitcoin as the only suitable substitute.
In a shocking but commendable revelation, Dorsey pledges to commit to developing Bitcoin over Twitter or Square, if need be. The statement which has left the cryptocurrency community surprised reads in part:
“If I were not at Square or Twitter, I would be working on Bitcoin… If it needed more help than Square or Twitter, I would leave them for Bitcoin… But, I believe both companies have a role to play. I don’t think there is anything more enabling for people around the world.“
