2018 will be remembered for a truckload of downturns in the cryptocurrency community, one of the most significant of which will be the Bitcoin Cash November hard fork and the events birthed by it, that has now left the cryptocurrency space different.
After the bearish trends that surfaced due to the hash war, the division between both parties is becoming increasingly evident in the very crucial choices that many cryptocurrency exchanges have been forced to implement.
The most recent of this is Okex’s decision contains the confusion that constantly erupts because of the similarities in ticker signs. The Hong Kong-based exchange is set to erase part of the letters in both Bitcoin Cash ABC and Bitcoin Cash Satoshi Vision tokens.
In an announcement made through a blog post on its official website, the exchange revealed that Bitcoin ABC will now be referred to as BCH while the Satoshi Vision token will go from BCHSV to BSV. The changes are intended to be incepted on the 13th of December.
The exchange can be quoted saying ;
“Dear valued customers, We will change the ticker of Bitcoin Cash ABC from BCHABC to BCH, and that of Bitcoin Cash SV from BCHSV to BSV at 5am Dec 13, 2018 (CET, UTC+1). All remaining balance of the original BCH will be settled, and the asset will be removed from your account.”
Okex ditching the original Bitcoin Cash?
It appears that the original Bitcoin Cash will no longer be available for trading on the Okex exchange. The Blog post further advised margin traders of the original BCH/USDT to transfer their USDT funds out of their margin accounts, and await an automatic system transfer of all remaining USDT balances BCH / USDT account.
Termination of Bitcoin Cash Futures
In alignment with the changes on the ticker signs, the exchange will halt all activities surrounding the Bitcoin Cash futures. The exchange revealed that all contracts for Bitcoin Cash futures will cease to exist on its platform. Okex has advised users to create an alternative account, to enable affected users retain their bill and order history.
“The original BCH futures contracts will no longer be available. Please backup your order history and bills if necessary.”
