Renowned Ethereum Layer 2 network Taiko, in collaboration with DoraHacks, the world’s largest hacker movement in crypto, has announced plans to launch the biggest anonymous community vote in the history of crypto.

According to an official announcement today, the anonymous community vote has been designed to leverage the Taiko Grant Factory Hackathon to advance decentralization in community governance.

Notably, the Taiko Grant Factory Hackathon will help boost developer creativity while driving innovation, interactive applications, and projects with real-world impact. While the event aims to foster large-scale, community-driven decision-making, it kickstarted with intense competition that lasted for months. Thus, the best participants were selected and qualified to head to the voting phase.

Notably, the voting event is powered by Minimal Anti-Collusion Infrastructure (MACI), a game-changing privacy-preserving and collusion-resistant voting mechanism originally conceptualized by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

MACI is the best fit for the event as it features an Ethereum-based infrastructure that addresses the challenges of traditional voting systems, including fraud, collusion, privacy leaks, etc.

Following DoroHacks’ integration with Taiko, Dora Factory, the decentralized governance protocol has shipped the best MACI product the market has seen to ensure fairness and transparency during the votes.

The announcement further notes that voting for the final round of Taiko’s Grant Factory Hackathon will be executed entirely on-chain via MACI. This aims to ensure encrypted ballots, zero-knowledge proof integrity, and protection against vote buying and collusion.

This unique mechanism will allow users to submit their votes through smart contracts, with timestamps recorded on-chain, to ensure the voting process is transparent yet private.

Ben Wan, Taiko’s Community Director expressed delight on the introduction of MACI to the voting system, saying;

“This is decentralization in action…We’re thrilled to bring MACI to this scale and grateful to the community for participating in Taiko’s growth. The future of Ethereum is decentralized, and we’re here to make that happen—together.”

Taiko Anchors Biggest and Historic Crypto Community Voting

While there are over 920,000 participants taking part in the event, the vote proves itself as not just the largest in the web3 space but it is also historic. It has become the most significant whitelisted anonymous community vote in Ethereum’s history.

Nonetheless, to ensure fairness and credibility, the conclusion of the final voting round will be followed by the unveiling of the results by the designated operator. Taiko will then incentivize participants by distributing 50,000 Trailblazer points to them, later translating into an airdrop.

Steve Ngok, Partner at DoraHacks, also commented on the even,t saying;

“We’re incredibly excited to work with Taiko on launching the biggest MACI-powered vote in Ethereum history. DoraHacks and Dora Factory have committed resources to expanding Ethereum’s mission—advancing MACI for decentralized governance and privacy protection. We look forward to exploring MACI’s full potential alongside Taiko and its dynamic community.”
