SEDA Unveils Flagship Verification Module To Secure A $120 Billion Industry

Programmable Oracle project SEDA has announced the unveiling of its flagship Interoperability Verification Module (IVM) framework. This is the first-of-its-kind Interoperability Verification Module framework and sets an industry standard for cross-chain verification across verification modules.

The plug-and-play IVMs provide a verification solution for interoperability protocols with significant security upgrades, near-instant horizontal scaling, and increased decentralization.

As an interoperability module, it gives users access to a hyper-specialized framework they can use to verify any cross-chain transaction across all routes independently.

 Framework Design

The IVM framework uses a multi-layer verification process. This consists of an independent overlay network, decentralized solvers, and a combination of private and public RPC data providers.

The IVM can automatically initiate a secure verification sequence with a dedicated secret committee of independent overlay nodes formed to query RPC data on the source chain. To ensure integrity and prevent manipulation, the results are returned through a commit-reveal scheme, after which protocol-defined instructions filter and order results before being batched on SEDA’s main chain. 

Subsequently, data results are secured using tamper-proof cryptography before they are relayed by solvers to the destination chain.

Because of its robust security architecture, the framework also provides succor to the crypto industry, which has lost roughly $2 billion to bridge hacks since 2020. 

Other benefits of the framework include industry-wide data parity with a singular security zone, built-in liveness guarantees, programmable design to suit specific needs of bridges, solver, and abstraction layers, and permissionless access and deployments.

Commenting on the project, Peter Mitchell, CEO and Co-founder of SEDA, said:

“The demand for robust interoperability infrastructure has surged as users and developers engage with hundreds of specialized networks. Over the last two years, the interoperability sector has expanded dramatically, achieving a transaction volume of over $123 billion in 2024. Projections indicate this sector could reach over $250 billion in 2025. Our IVMs represent a significant advancement for Interop 3.0, allowing any interoperability provider to customize parameters within the SEDA IVM framework, ensuring independent verification across all routes through a single deployment.”

The IVM framework also addresses recent industry challenges, such as the  Stargate bridge downtime caused by an offline multi-sig verifier. The network’s design also reduces the risk of collision and downtime, which is prevalent among default multi-sig relay setups today.
